It has been 5 years today since the big guy passed. I miss him and his phone calls but am focused on the great things he brought to all of us.

Kent,
Thanks for reminding us of that.I just got off the phone with someone regarding a glass sign order.I really don't think I would have dedicated myself to doing it full time if it wasn't for him.

I was thinking about the same thing today.....seems like forever and with Lola's passing so recently so much magic has just disappeared.

Journeys to the Fine Gold Sign Company have become some of my fondest memories. Just wasn't supposed to have ended like that. Rick's name came up the other day from an "out of the blue" call from some gal in Texas who was new to the craft and all excited about glue chipping. I must have chatted for about 20 minutes. Rick probably would've given her 40. But I thought of him and how he so freely shared his time and inspiration for this craft. His passing still leaves a hole that can't be filled. The banks erode over time, making it not quite so deep, but never to vanish. AHO, Rick Glawson!

I always go back to how Rick and Lola drew us all together with their warmth and sharing ways, much like spokes are drawn to the center hub of a wheel. Then suddenly when that hub is removed, the spokes reach across and join together with purpose to make up the void. Personally, I know that Rick's passing led me towards being in tighter contact with many who attended his conclaves.

This came in over the wire yesterday. Mighta been easy to have that day just go by. So, thanks for sending it.

For me, Rick's passing was one of those events that changed everything.

Whenever I have a gilder's tip in my right hand, I think of him.

Aho, Rick Glawson! ...and thanks...

I also had a lump in my throat as I re-read Ray Chapmans eulogy and most of the AMAL issue from that time on the 10th Was great to see other folks thinking as I did on that day. He was only 56 and my senior (in more than one way) at the time. I now have 2years on him. I also very much missed the call I gave Lola each year on the 10th as well.

It makes me sad to read these words.
And I did not even had the privilege to meet them.
For a year now I feel I have missed out.
Remember that you were lucky to have known them.
One thing is for sure, your memories, stories and crafts all keep them alive!
Realizing we are in the 2nd renaissance of the arts.
Learn, copy and trying to improve...
Still in the learning phase ;-)

I remembered this...and then I lost it. And then I found it again!

...the circle of life has no ending!

-Aho!

P.S. There's two other clips that can be found at the Letterheads site, look under the Feature Articles, Rick Glawson, and they're under the Angel Gilding instructions link. :)
