D300 question
Yes....it was such a short time ago I bought the D70s and have just upgraded with trade in (not much value) to the D300. I see many changes although I'm hoping that the great feature of the old one, being able to tweek the exposure so slightly in aperture priority isn't gone. So there you are shoot a photo and see a small amount of highlight flashing away....tweek the exposure and you have no blown out areas. I'd hesitate to post this subject here except that I heard a great deal of positive comments after my initial postings some years ago.

Doug,
I bought a new D300 back in November. The poor thing already has 43,000 activations.
Some of the dials and buttons are changed on the D300 from the D70, so it might take a little getting used to at first. Those changes are ALL for the better! Most of the adjustments are now available from some place on the back of the camera and not buried in the menus. The plus and minus Exposure Compensation buttons are essentially in the same spot, I think. The "overexposure" blinkies are available. I know mine are on all the time, but I can't remember if I turned them on in the menus or if it came that way. You can also set the camera so the back multiple-selector toggle button works the same way you are used to on your D70.
There will be quite a few new features and settings you didn't have before. If you liked the D70, you will absolutely LOVE the D300 once you get past the initial learning curve.
I recently added a lot of new images to my web sites, mainly in the Bears section, but also in the Critters and Raptors galleries.

Hi Mike and thanx....I'll be delving more deeply into this over the next couple of weeks as I'll be making another trip "Over the Pond" in a few weeks and needed this for that journey. I may post a few more questions about this in the mean time. You wildlife photos are amazing BTW...and your neck of the woods incredible.
