Meet & greet piece

I attended a get together here in Washington state recently and made this there. No one there had ever seen any gilding before. No screens or stencils, or smith tip! One fellow that I let lay some leaf really got hooked. Anyway, it was fun. Sorry about the pics, trying to get it figured out.

Well your more than welcome over here next year Jerry. I will be giving gold workshops in all different glass techniques. Will give you some dates after Christmas.

Something tells me that you need some fairly old and almost impossible to find equipment to pull off those punties.

Well thanks Dave. I sure could use some more knowledge as things get a little boring doing the basics. My areas of interest are chemical deposition of various metals, glass grinding and polishing, acid etching, glazes and mica powders. I better start figuring how to make it out there now!

Nice work Jerry.

Thinking of Doug's recent post makes you wonder,why those that are producing sign work lacking in design experience choose this line of work? They must feel their work is adequate.

From your comments, it's possible they've never been exposed to work that challenges them to do work out of the ordinary.

My first exposure to signage was one of the early meets at Product Sign Supply in San Jose. It looked good to me at the time, but the following years I saw the work of Frank Mason, and then Rick Glawson, that not only blew me away, but was a sharp contrast to work done at earlier meets.

It should be of no surprise that the Meet and Greet got so much attention, since the calibre of work was something they hadn't seen before.

Hopefully you have inspired more than a few to learn and grow more in quality work.

Keep up the good work, well done.
