Anyone using GMail?

Post by Mike Jackson »

Hi all,
A while back, I set up a Gmail account and have all my email forwarding to it so I can view it on the road. I just logged onto it and see something in excess of 6000 emails stored on their server. I have no use for any of it, but I don't see a way of deleting more than groups of 50 at a time. Is there some sort of mass DELETE button I am not seeing?

I hadn't logged onto the account since last spring break. I wonder how many accounts are inactive or unused there? Wow!

Yeow!! I do have a G-mail account and you just reminded me it's time to check it. As to mass deletion......good luck. As you may well imagine I'm of absolutely no use here!!

Is Gmail a Google email service? If so, I am not a member of it. But I am signed up with Yahoo.com, and if I need to get rid of a lot of emails...I can increase the displayed amount of emails per page. Currently my maximum per page is 50, all of which I can delete in two key strokes, select all, and then delete. Or is it three...."Are You Sure You Want To....".

Now, I can increase the amount of emails viewed per page to 200, or I see there is a button that says "view all".

Which would allow me to dump all the emails in two/three clicks.

See what your Gmail view settings allow you per page.

Also....I am the worst at checking the emails fellow forum members send to me at this site.
So Im sorry for the late response. (three years later)

So Mike, please post a sticky just below the last sticky on this forum, reminding members to check there mailbox on this site....the subject heading should say in all caps..."PLEASE DONT FORGET TO CHECK YOUR INBOX. Thank You!"

Just a suggestion.

Okay, I found it. After selecting 50 on the page, there is a new yellow box near the top of the list. It allowed me to select all 5955 inbox messages and move them to the trash. Then in the trash box, there is a command to delete all items in the trash. That was much easier than deleting 50 at a time.

Oh yes....check your Messages in this forum once in a while!

After having used Yahoo for a few years I was really getting tired of all the ad's they put on.I signed up for what they called "Mail Plus" which was supposed to take off all the ad's but didn't.So I got rid of that. Now it seems that my Yahoo e-mail account is really dragging, going really slow.

I just signed up for a G-mail account and it looks very clean,no ad's,works smooth and quick.

Here my big question.
What do you guy's do for your e-mails?
If for some reason they lost all of my documents,e-mails,contacts,etc I would really be screwed.I could have it all on my computer but then I can't veiw it from anywhere else but there.

I like being able to check my e-mail when I am out of town but always worry a bit about loosing it all.

Roderick,
I have my normal email accounts set up to forward all of my emails to my gmail account. I still get all of them on my home computer, but all of them are also on the gmail server. When on the road, I can log into that account and read any messages. If I reply from there, I can include my normal email address in the message box. Otherwise, the replies come from my gmail account. I could probably send a CC to my home computer if I needed a back up copy of note. ( Of course, that one would then be forwarded back to the Gmail account. :) )

I only use the Gmail account when I am on the road and that isn't too often anymore. It had accumulated quite a few emails over the months.
