No Country for Old Men has been showing on cable lately.
I am not so sure much of it had to be done for the movie, but there is plenty of hand lettering in the show. It looked like quite a bit of the signs were captured "as is" on location in Texas. It's bloody and brutal, but captivating.
After watching the movie and seeing the rest of the Texans in action, I now know how Raymond got so much of his magnetic personality.

Well, now...let's see...the movie is about Old Men and it's bloody and brutal and that somehow is connected to me? I'm not sure if Jackson was giving me a compliment or slapping me in the face.
But, I'll see the glass as half full and that somehow Mike was saying something positive....so, thanks.
Haven't seen it yet, but will sometime in the future and get back to you on comparisons.
Raymond,
The Cohen brothers are good at distilling "characters" from a region. Most of them seem to have maybe made it to the 8th grade. They are all good natured and friendly, but not too worldly. Even in sleepy little Texas towns, you'd think an officer would get a call about a bunch of shooting at a hotel or motel. The slice of Texas shown in the movie is definitely from the layed back regions of the state.
Darla's family is from the Fargo, MN area. Their family didn't like the Fargo movie, but when I go there to visit, I always fell like I am living part of it. We were sitting at the dinner table and they started talking about one of their friends getting this years duck stamp....hello?
I am sure the Cohen brothers would have a good time making a movie about parts of Wyoming...or are they too late? Brokeback Mountain already covered it.
At any rate, I watched the movie and realized the part of the country they were showing isn't that far from your neck of the woods.
