Restaurant booth on the Hamburg Christmas market.

Post by erik winkler »

Hello again guys and Dolls,

Last weekend I made an other trip to Germany and this time i was in Hamburg.
These days they have the "Weinachtsmarkt" (Christmas market) and there I saw an 'old' kind of booth.
Looked a bit gipsy, because it had not the real art touch, but more a kind of kitsch.
But what it is that is, is for you to decide...
I was very enthusiastic to see this. Hope you will too.
It was made in 1988 and had mat gilding, reverse painting, coloured photo's glued on reverse (sun decolorized it a lot already) and a technique used to imitate glue chipped silvering.
I think it is aluminium foil squashed and glued on to a board that is framed together with the glass with about 3 mm distance to each other.
Maybe someone can ad his or her idea's after seeing the photo's?

Eric,
I like the look from far away.I would agree with you .it is foil. It's sad to see how much failure there is in the paint in such a short time.I wonder what type of paint they used?
